patchwork prism is done!

Ok, I'm shocked.  I thought the hand quilting would take way longer!  But I'm done.  I feel like the swiffer lady!

And thanks to Rachel's excellent hanging sleeve tutorial, my patchwork prism quilt is hanging in the bathroom.  But don't worry, it's one we almost never use - there's no door and no shower, so it's kind of useless!  But it does have a nice blank white wall, perfect for this quilt.

I'm linking up with Quiltstory.

prisming

I managed to get quite a bit of quilting done on my prism quilt last night while chatting with my quilting group.  It looks like rain all weekend, so hopefully I'll finish it off by Monday.  Finally, something to link up to Katey's Handmade Parade!

There and Back

I also did a little sewing towards a dresden project.  I'm loving all the projects being showcased by members of the SLC Modern Quilt Guild for the EZ Dresden Challenge and have so many ideas of my own!  I'm not sure if this will become an entry but it will end up as a charity quilt for one of the regional hospitals.  I really have to try to make more of those!

And I just had to show this little darling Bea and I came across on our walk.  (S)he was about the size of a cat and so cute!  Bea and I accidentally scared off mama, but when we came back that way 30 minutes later everything was ok.  Good thing, too, because the last thing we need is a pet deer!

i've been stitching

We didn't take the dog for a walk last night, I sewed instead. And today again I stole a few hours.

And finished my patchwork prism top!

I'm so in love with it!  These are all cherished prints and the way light and dark skips across the top seems to make them even more vibrant.  I'm so glad I stuck with this one rather than just adding it to the mental list or pile of ufos!

As I said before, I went smaller, cutting my triangles from 3½" strips.  The top measures about 26" by 22", so it won't be covering anyone's bed but should be perfect as a wall hanging.

Now I just have to baste it so I can do some hand quilting tonight.  Yay!

patchwork prism quilt-along

When Bianca first announced the patchwork prism quilt along I was so stoked.  I loved the pattern and just knew I had to make it.  Fast forward almost 2 months and I've just cut my fabric!  It survived a night on the floor (ok, except for 2 pieces that appear to have wandered off) and today I will do some sewing!

I've made mine quite a bit smaller than the original, cutting the triangles from 3½" strips.  I only have so many bold, vibrant, large scale prints and I love them so much I'm scared to use them up!

happy stitching,
