the fastest top in town

Ok, why do I keep making multi-block, traditionally based quilts?  This has got to be my first truly modern top, and not only do I love how liberating it was to piece, it was fast.  Sure it took 3 days, but only about a total of 3 hours planning, cutting, and sewing.  I may never look back.

Anyway, this is the top for Pippa's friends, a happy 60" x 60", perfect for snuggling on the couch.  They're newlyweds, they can snuggle close!  I wish I knew what the background is, it's not Essex linen.  It's a heavier weight, thicker than the Melody Miller and Heather Ross prints, with thicker warp and weft.  I think it might be 100% linen but again, I'm not sure.  It was lovely to work with, here's hoping it quilts as nicely as it sews.

Doesn't it look lovely up against our veggie corral?  We've had such a lousy spring that about the only thing doing well is the broad beans.  Oh, and the garlic in front, but those were planted in the fall so they don't count!  Still we've managed a few salads and lots of radishes.  I just can't wait for the first peas!

happy friday,
