Scrappy 100 patch
All that playing with different blocks has seen me settle on an actual idea! Finally! I'm cutting my scraps into 2" squares and sewing up these 100 patch blocks. Nine of them, a lot of solid and I should have a quilt. The question, though, is what solid?
Keep it calm and simple with kona white or ash?
Or something a bit more lively? Kona azure is cheerful and beachy while lime reminds me of fresh grass, buds and little shoots.
Or go bold with kona pomegranate or tangerine?
I get the joy of visiting a shop that carries the entire kona range this weekend, hopefully I can make up my mind then! And I wonder if once I see entire bolts and not just tiny swatches if I'll be bowled over by canary or robin egg or melon or amber or asparagus instead?

Hmmmm, I like the ash or the orange.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea this is, the 100 patch blocks.
P.S. What shop are you going to that carries the kona line?
ReplyDeleteOoh I like the lime! But I love everything green :)
ReplyDeleteI like the blue - it makes the squares look like beach glass!
ReplyDeleteOoh, decisions, decisions! Have fun at the shop, sure it'll all make sense there
ReplyDeleteI like either the pomegranite or orange makes all the colors pop!
ReplyDeleteOh, la,la so many choices but I like the Kona Azure so pretty with all you scrap blocks
ReplyDeletegood luck in your decision :S
This looks wonderful! What a great idea! I've been doing the granny square with my scraps but have some that aren't quite 2.5", so this is super inspiring for me! I like the Azure also, but I'm always partial to blues! Whichever you choose will look great!
ReplyDeleteI like the ash and the lime - who knows you may go there and decide on something totally different like raisin!! ;)
ReplyDeleteohh, how cute! I like the ash, but the blue is fabulous too -- you'll know it once you see it! :)
ReplyDeletei like the pomegranate or tangerine the best. i am usually drawn to white but for some reason it hasn't been my favorite lately. have fun at the quilt shop! i hope you find everything you need and then some extra!
ReplyDeleteHard call - they all look great!
ReplyDeleteI like the azure and the ash best!
ReplyDeleteI say go bold! I'm adding this to my 'to sew' list...100 2"blocks. Can't wait to see what you choose.
ReplyDeleteAh! Those are really fun! I'm leaning towards the Pomegranate, though. Have fun in Kona heaven :-D
ReplyDeleteI say azure as well.
ReplyDeleteNot pomegranate! That's my Made in Cherry mini. I only have to sew the binding on the back and I am DONE. So you'll see soon :)
ReplyDeletelove this idea! i'm going to have tons of scraps left, even after the my granny square quilt (twin size). as for the background color, i love a lot of them. good luck!
ReplyDeleteAre you coming to Vancouver this weekend and visiting Spool of Thread? You must be! I like the pomegranate or azure with the assortment of fabrics you've got there!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you're going to have auditioning your blocks with all those solids!
ReplyDeleteI also like the pomegranate or azure especially. :) Have fun choosing! You really can't go wrong.
ReplyDeleteI like the lime..and love your blocks
ReplyDeleteWhat a tough choice - you can't go wrong! Just don't use white!
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a shop near me that carried the whole Kona line! Good luck choosing!
ReplyDeleteYes I love this idea too! I'd go for spring GREEN: always puts a smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteGo bold! Now I want to cut up my scraps into 2" squares. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'm chipping in my opinion for going bold, too. Especially love pomegranate. Yum.
ReplyDeleteReally, with all those lovely scrappy blocks, you just can't go wrong, no matter what you choose as the background. Love those scrappy blocks!
Love this idea and the simple layout. I'd vote for lime, but I've always had a thing for green.
