the wedding quilt

I mentioned a while ago that I was making a quilt for my sister to give her friends.  Well, Katie and Peter were married on the 7th, and as far as I know, they're still together.  Obviously neither of them is a celebrity.

This was such a great project, right from the get go.  I got to spend time with my awesome, gorgeous little sister picking out fabric and consulting on the design.  Then I got to make a quilt that I probably wouldn't have made for myself but that I absolutely love.

I absolutely adore the back on this one!  I paper pieced their initials and the year - I had to make three 2s since one was backwards.  Oops!  I think that backwards 2 is on my sewing room floor somewhere, I should take a photo!

I can't remember where, but I also quilted 2 random hearts in there somewhere.  Maybe once the honeymoon is over Katie and Peter can find them!

I hope that Katie and Peter love their quilt but also that they use it!  There's something so sad about a quilt that just sits on the shelf.  This one is definitely for snuggling under.

happy weekend,
c
