blogger's quilt festival - entry #580
I haven't been around for ages, and now that I'm back what do I do? Spam you with stuff you've seen before! I just haven't really been sewing and I haven't felt like blogging much. But I'm hoping entering the blogger's quilt festival will be the kick in the pants I need to get going again!
As I said, you've probably seen this before. The hexy baby quilt for my some-sort-of-cousin Penelope. Biggest thing I learned making this one? Let the recipients know it can go in the wash! I ran into Penny's mum and dad when I was visiting my mum and dad the other weekend. When I told them the quilt could go in the wash (gentle,cold) they were so relieved - I think it suddenly went from pretty accessory to something useful!
So, the fest asks for a few technical specs, and the first one I'm going to have to guess on...
Size: I think it's about 40x40, but it could be bigger, I didn't write down the size before giving it away
Designed by: based on a pattern from Ali of a²w, tweaked by me
Quilted by: me
Categories: baby quilt, professionally quilted, wall hanging

I dont care if I've seen it before. Your work is so beautiful and I have missed you! Love your blog. Oh and your photos are great too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Mandy! I've been feeling the rainy blahs lately (and the rainy wet pants, frizzy hair, and soaked through "water resistant" rain jacket). Hopefully things will clear up by December!
DeleteSqueaking in at the last moment are we??? ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely. I've told you before and I'll tell you again! Beautiful quilt and the quilting itself is to die for.
Your quilting is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHey, you can bring this one out & show it off anytime you like! I love it :) that gray hexie reminds me of pacman :) I once made a baby quilt for some people, who were afraid to use it & were considering hanging it up instead. I reasured them that I made it being fully aware that babies are just cute little factories manufacturing disgusting bodily fluids at an alarming rate, and spewing them everywhere. {good thing they are so cute}
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen this quilt before (but I don't think I would have minded if I had). It's such a fresh little baby quilt, and the quilting is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting is gorgeous! You should be very proud of it!
ReplyDeleteDitto, the quilting is gorgeous. I love the colors and varied placement of your hexies.

ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful!! (I always try to emphasize the washability of quilts I gift to people, and I sure hope they're listening.) It's so nice to think of this lovely little quilt being used and used well!
